Playful. Personal. Exploratory.
WORKSHOPS
Bringing people together with a shared focus of being present and allowing ourselves to play.
2 hours. Clay & tools provided. Hosted in your space. Beginner friendly & all ages.
3 Workshop Offerings:
Hand-building
Starting from the beginning. Getting your hands dirty.
A guided session creating small sculptures, pinch pot vessels, or hand-built creations. Perfect for a group looking to get their hands dirty and end the workshop with their own personal form. Each person has the option to have their creation glazed, fired, and shipped following the workshop for an additional fee.
hand-carving
Adding colors. Carving raw clay.
A fusion between the messy hand-building and classic pottery painting. Sgraffito is a technique of hand-carving illustrations into colored clay. I make the forms in advance (cups, mugs, bowls-- your choice!) and guide participants with painting colors and carving into their vessel. Glazing, firing, and shipping costs are included in this workshop.
illustration
Decorating and finishing a fired form.
Starting with a form I've made and fired in advance (in the shape of your choosing), I guide participants on surface illustration using ceramic pencils, pastels, and paints. The form is up to you; keep it simple with a standard mug or take it up a notch and decorate a matcha bowl and whisk holder set.
Frequently asked questions
Where are the workshops hosted?
I bring the workshop to you! Whether that's a corporate office, pub, coffee shop, retail space, or even a backyard/garden. All I need in the space is a table/work surface and seating for everyone attending. The rest is on me.
What is included in the workshop?
Each person receives:
- A portion of clay or formed vessel to work with
- Any tools and materials needed for sculpting or decorating
- Beginner-friendly guidance from me
More importantly, the workshops are full of opportunities to make something with your hands, express your creativity, share a laugh, and be present.
What should we bring?
All I ask is that you show up ready to play!
What happens to our creations after the workshop?
If you'd like to keep your creations, I will complete the remainder of the ceramics process for each item. This involves allowing the piece to dry, firing it in the kiln, glazing it, and firing again— roughly a 6 week process. Items will be shipped to the provided addresses.
This service is included for the Hand-carving and Illustration Workshops, but optional for the Hand-building Workshop (for an additional fee).
How many people can participate?
For the best workshop experience, I'd recommend no more than 15 people. However, there is no hard limit to group sizes and I'd be happy to discuss accommodating larger groups.
Are your workshops appropriate for kids?
Absolutely! I love working with kids and would love to help give them an early introduction to clay. I'd be happy to discuss further details related to parental supervision and age-appropriate accommodations upon enquiry.
